Architecture Kerry 2026:

Villa Tugendhat Exhibition

About this Event

Join Architecture Kerry and Munster Technological University (MTU) for the Villa Tugendhat Exhibition, a special event exploring one of the most influential works of twentieth century architecture and its enduring legacy, and part of Architecture Kerry Week 2026.

Designed by renowned architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and completed in 1930 in Brno, Czech Republic, Villa Tugendhat is widely regarded as a masterpiece of modern architecture and is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The year 2026 marks the 25th anniversary of the building's inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List, providing a timely opportunity to reflect on its architectural, cultural and historical significance.

This exhibition forms part of both the Architecture Kerry 2026 programme and Ireland's Presidency of the Council of the European Union (July to December 2026). Through the Presidency's county twinning initiative, County Kerry has been paired with the Czech Republic, creating an opportunity to celebrate cultural exchange and shared architectural heritage.

The exhibition will remain on display in An Cuan until 5 October 2026.
