The title “Contrasts” is chosen because it is not a homogenous ensemble of 6, but individuals who are coming together as ECF students with a diverse background; both geographically and regarding musical styles and genres.
Nigar Gahramanova comes from Azerbaijan and is an organ soloist with a number of majestic organ symphonies in her repertoire. She is also a singer/songwriter performing folk music from her home country. Birte Slettevoll is also a singer/songwriter, but she is inspired by jazz and folk music. Inga Stenøien is Norwegian and Verena Merstallinger comes from Austria. Both of them play classical guitar. From Barratt Due Institute of Music and as a part of the ECF class from the Norwegian Academy of Music, we have Eline Korbi, a classical lyrical soprano. Georgina Cassidy comes from Cork School of Music and is a classical pianist.
