Arlene Shawcross will give an artist talk and embroidery demonstration as part of Cork Textiles Network's exhibition, PLAY, at CIT Wandesford Quay Gallery on Saturday 20 August at 2pm. This event is free to attend and no booking is required.
Shawcross is a textile artist and teacher. For the last few
years she has been involved with the CRAFTed project run by the Design & Crafts Council of Ireland of Ireland taking the joy of textile art into the primary school classroom.
Arlene’s textile work is diverse and ranges from wall pieces and garments stitched on a soluble background which is dissolved away to create a beautiful lace to pieces which are richly embroidered and others which are worked in hand-dyed silk velvet.
Arlene has exhibited widely and frequently exhibits with the Cork Textiles Network. She offers talks and workshops to groups and also works to commission.
