Oisin McGill performs 'The Lowell Liebermann Flute Concerto Op39'

Biography:

In 2008, Oisín obtained a BMus (1st class) from the Cork School of Music where he studied flute under Eilis O' Sullivan. Upon graduating he was also awarded the Pro Musica Trophy from the Cork School of Music for Most Outstanding Student from the Department of Wind, Percussion, Voice and Drama. During his time in the Cork School of Music, Oisín was a finalist and winner of many competitions including Feis Maitiu, Feile Luimnige, Cork School of Music Senior Recital Competition and the RTÉ Vanbrugh String Quartet Chamber Music Competition.

Since graduating he has also been a winner at Sligo Feis Ceoil and was selected overall winner of the Young Artist Competition sponsored by Trevor James Flutes. Oisín has been privileged to study and attended master classes with some of the world's leading flute players including Sir James Galway, Sharon Bezaly, Lorna McGhee and Paul Edmund Davies. As a soloist, Oisín has performed with the UL Orchestra, the Belfast Harp Orchestra and the CSM Wind Ensemble. He has also played in many distinguished ensembles in Ireland and abroad including the International Youth Wind Ensemble, the National Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ireland and the Irish Youth Wind Ensemble.


In 2011 Oisín joined and became the principle flute player with the Army Band of the First Brigade based in Cork. At present Oisín is studying for an MA in performance under the guidance of Sabine Ducrot.
