ALBUM LAUNCH! The MTU Cork School of Music Percussion Ensemble is thrilled to announce the release of its electrifying debut album, Glioscarnach on Saturday 6th of December, 2025. The MTU Cork School of Music Percussion Ensemble is made up of conservatoire percussion students, from ages 10 to 18 directed by Stephen Kelly. Released under the university's own burgeoning record label, CSM Sounds, the album showcases the ensemble's dynamic virtuosity and commitment to contemporary repertoire.

A centrepiece of the album is the world-premiere recording of a major new work, title track Glioscarnach, specially commissioned of esteemed composer Paul Frost, by the MTU Arts Office “Create le Chéile” arts project award. Composed by Frost, a graduate of MTU CSM for percussionist Caitríona Frost, also a graduate of MTU CSM, this work is a tour-de-force for percussion solo and ensemble. Recorded, mixed and mastered by Joe Clarke (PhD candidate at MTU) in the CSM’s recording studio. This significant commission highlights MTU Cork School of Music's dedication to creating and promoting new music, providing students with the unique opportunity to collaborate with a leading contemporary voice.
