This collaborative project began through an introduction, facilitated by Róisín de Buitléar, Debbie Dawson glass lecturer at MTU Crawford College to Ioana Stelea, glass lecturer at the National University of Arts in Bucharest, Romania.

A conversation began around ways both colleges (MTU Crawford College of Art & Design, Cork, Ireland & National University of Arts, Bucharest, Romania) could collaborate on a project.

With an overarching premise of sustainability within studio practice, the themes explored by the students look at environmental awareness and climate change, and the urban/rural divide. All of the artworks created were made using recycled glass.

This exciting collaboration culminated in a series of exhibitions of the 14 students’ work organised in Romania and Ireland.
