POSSIBLE FUTURES

A multi-screen interactive installation by MTU Year 2 Creative Digital Media students.

Rory Gallagher Theatre, MTU Bishopstown Campus, Cork

Wednesday 11th, Thursday 12th December, 10am-4pm.

POSSIBLE FUTURES is a multimedia installation where students explore what kind of world we may inhabit in the distant and not so distant future.

Basing their research on the 17 UN Sustainability Goals, a wide variety of different scenarios were imagined from sub aqua existence to teleportation to both integration and conflicts between humans and AI-powered androids. These worlds and their beings are brought to life through the use of painted digital images and 3D modelling, as well as audio and video.

Visitors can interact with the installation through a custom sensor panel, jumping between worlds on two large screens as well as controlling aspects of the imagery and audio.

Simultaneously, a selection of statements by the students will be projected above the entrance to the Nimbus research centre, linking the live interaction with a second location.

The project is developed and presented by the Department of Media Communications, BA (Hons) Creative Digital Media, MTU Crawford College of Art & Design, Faculty of Creative & Performing Arts & Media, and supported by MTU Arts Office.
