“Following last year’s ‘Flights of Fantasy’ concert at Triskel featuring piano duet performances from members of the MTU Cork School of Music (Michael McHale/Gabriela Mayer, Gary Beecher/Donal McHugh and Ciara Moroney/Cathal Synnott), we are delighted to present special lunchtime performances from some of the Keyboard Department’s most talented BMus and MA student pianists on 24 and 31 May, as well as another staff showcase concert on 7 June as part of the 2024 Cork PianoFest. Beginning with an enticing programme inspired by all things Parisian, we then explore the world of Variations, from Classical to Romantic to Jazz, before concluding the series with a celebration of the greatest ever pianist-composers: Chopin, Liszt and Rachmaninov.”

The CSM Piano Day concerts in CSM on the 15th of May take place at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and feature solo, duos and ensemble performances by younger students, organised with the support and guidance of the lecturers teaching individual and ensemble classes in the Department of Keyboard Studies. These concerts are free and open to the public.

Furthermore, Barry Douglas will be teaching piano masterclasses in CSM on the 16 and the 17th of May.
